VMware hands-on labs

- [Instructor] In this video, we'll explore the VMware certification process and the different certification tracks that are available and how you go about achieving your VMware certification. And so the first screen that we're going to take a look at is the VMware certification page, and as we scroll down a little bit, we can see the different certifications and badges that are available. So let's take a moment and look at the Data Center Virtualization track. So if you are pursuing your VCP, VMware Certified Professional 2019, let's take a look at what the requirements are for that certification, and at the moment, we will assume that you do not hold a current VCP certification. Now if you do, like for example, let's say that you have your certification in VCP5, VCP6, VCP6.5, the process is going to be different, but if you don't hold any current VMware certifications, here's what you need to do. Number one, get some experience. Number two, if you don't hold any VMware certifications, you need to attend an official VMware training course listed here. So there's a few different options that are available for you. Once you've attended official VMware training, then you need to pass the vSphere Foundations exam, and as you can see, the current version of the vSphere Foundations exam is vSphere 6.7. So all of the contents of that exam are covered in my Clear and Simple vSphere 6.7 Foundations course, and once you've passed that exam, then you need to move on to the vSphere 6.7 Professional exam. All of the topics for that exam are covered in my Clear and Simple vSphere 6.7 Professional course. So I've got two courses covering the two exams required for this certification. Now if you already hold a VMware certification, you do not need to take an official course. Like for example, if you hold the VCP6.5, all you need to do is either pass the VCP exam, the Professional exam, or attend an official training course. Either one of those actions will renew your certification. If you hold an older version of the VCP, again, all you need to do is pass the exam. So depending on what your current situation is, if you hold a really old VCP certification, it's essentially the same thing as having never been certified. So if you need to know what you need to do in order to get your certification, take a look at this certification tracks page. So let's go back to the main certification page here, and I just want to point out one more thing. There are other certification tracks like, for example, if you're focused on NSX, there's a Network Virtualization track, and you can become a VMware Certified Professional in Network Virtualization. In these other tracks, let's say you're going for an NSX-V certification, you still need to pass the Foundations exam. So for many of these other tracks, the vSphere 6.7 Foundations Exam is still a requirement. So let's take a look at the vSphere 6.7 Foundations page. This is the landing page for the vSphere 6.7 Foundations Exam. You can see the exam number here, and this is a great place to get some of the details about the exam like, for example, how long is it? 105 minutes. There are 65 questions on the exam, and we can schedule our exam here. We can also download the Exam Guide and see all of the topics that are represented on this exam. So these are all of the objectives that are covered on the certification test, and if you intend to move on to your vSphere 6.7 VCP certification, a VMware Certified Professional, this is the landing page for the VMware Certified Professional Exam. And again, much like the landing page for the vSphere 6.7 Foundations Exam, you can find the cost here, the duration of the exam, the number of questions, and you can also download the Exam Guide and view all of the topics covered on the exam.
