- In this video we'll learn how Update Manager can be used to perform functions like installing patches, upgrading ESXi hosts to new versions and updating VM Ware tools and virtual hardware versions on virtual machines. Update Manager is our solution to automate patch and version management for vSphere and the different components that run within vSphere. We can use Update Manager to update things like ESXi hosts. Virtual machines and virtual appliances. Update Manger has to be registered with a vCenter Server. If you're running Update Manager on the vCenter Server Appliance it's already built in. You don't have to think about this but if you're running the Windows version of vCenter you can install Update Manger right on the same server as vCenter. And again it's bundled right within the vCenter Server Appliance as of vSphere 6.5. This is a nice little benefit of the vCenter Server Appliance. Update Manager is baked right…
