- [Rick] In this video, I'll explain host profiles, and how they can be used to manage large groups of ESXI hosts, and keep a consistent configuration. So, when we think about manually configuring an ESXI host, there are a lot of tasks that we may need to undertake, like for example, if we're using a vSphere standard switch, those are configured individually on every ESXI host, including things like VLAN assignments for port groups, and security policies, and all other sorts of configuration tasks that we have to undertake at the virtual switch level. And if I don't keep those consistent, across all of my hosts, it can create vMotion compatibility issues. How about my firewall? Do I really want to go through the process of manually configuring the onboard firewall for every single ESXI host?
