- [Instructor] In this video, I'll demonstrate how to modify the VMX file for a virtual machine. So, I'm going to start by browsing to Hosts and Clusters here in the vSphere Client. And I've got a virtual machine that already exists and that is powered off. So I'm going to begin by un-registering that virtual machine and remove it from inventory. And I'll just go ahead and click Yes here. Now the virtual machine has been removed from inventory, but it's not gone. It's just not registered anymore. So, if I browse to the folder where that virtual machine was contained, all of the files are still there. So I'm going to grab the VMX file and I'm going to download this VMX file. Okay, so here's my VMX file that I've downloaded. What I'm going to do is I'm just going to create a copy of this VMX file. And the copy that I create, I'm going to call it dash OLD.
