Join Rick Crisci for an in-depth discussion in this video Demo: Update VMware Tools for vSphere 6.7, part of vSphere 6.7 Part 05: Updates and Upgrades.
- [Rick] In this video I'll demonstrate … the different methods that you can use … to upgrade VMware Tools on one or more virtual machines. … So let's start with the simplest option first. … If I just want to upgrade VMware Tools … on a virtual machine I can right-click it, … and if there is an update available, … and if I go to Guest OS, … you'll see here the Upgrade VMware Tools option … will not be grayed out. … Now it's currently grayed out here … because this virtual machine … is on the latest version of VMware Tools. … If I wanted to upgrade a single VM … I could choose that option. … Now the reason that that may be grayed out is of course … because I'm on the latest version of VMware Tools, … and if I go to Edit Settings for this VM … and under VM options I expand VMware Tools … I can say any time this virtual machine powers on … check for the latest version of VMware Tools, … upgrade VMware Tools before each power on. … So this way if I just happen to shut down a VM … and I'm bringing it back on …
