- [Rick] In this video I'll demonstrate how to configure traffic shaping on a vSphere distributed switch port group. So as you can see here, I'm in the vSphere Client, in the HTML 5 version of the vSphere Client, and I'm using a lab kit at hol.vmware.com to perform this demo, and I've created a port group on my vSphere distributed switch, and I'm just going to right-click that, go to edit settings, and under edit settings I'll choose traffic shaping. And at the moment ingress and egress traffic shaping are both disabled. Now first off, I just want to mention the fact that with a distributed switch you have the ability to do both ingress and egress traffic shaping. With a standard switch you can only do egress traffic shaping. So what does this mean? Well, let's go ahead and enable both ingress and egress traffic shaping.
