- [Voiceover] To look at distributed port groups I need to go back to the Networking tab. I can right-click on my distributed port group and go to Edit Settings. From here I can see that there's a lot more options than there were available on a standard switch. So let's start at the top. Under General Settings, I can change the name of the distributed port group, and I can change the port binding. There are three options for port binding: Static binding, dynamic binding, and ephemeral. With static binding, when a virtual interface is connected to a distributed switch it is assigned a port number at the vCenter server level, and it's going to maintain that port number as long as that virtual interface is connected to the switch regardless of whether the virtual machine is turned on or off. With dynamic binding, if a virtual machine is turned off it'll potentially lose that binding if it's needed by another virtual machine. Due to dynamic port allocation dynamic binding isn't as…
