From the course: Learning Mocha
Mocha variations
- [Instructor] So, what is Mocha? Mocha is a motion tracking system provided by Boris FX. Mocha is a planar tracker, which means it tracks a planar pattern through 3D space to pick up variations in perspective. This is often superior to more standard transformed tracking or match moving. There are several variations of Mocha. There is the Mocha Pro standalone program, which you see here. This includes a number of advanced modules to tackle specialized situations. Mocha also exists as a plugin you can use with such programs as After Effects, Premier Pro, and Avid Media Composer. There's also an OFX variation of the plugin you can use with such programs as Flame, Nuke, and Fusion. Let's take a look at After Effects. Here's After Effects. And if you go to the effects and presets and type Mocha, you'll see a few variations. Mocha Pro also exists as a plugin you can use in this program. However, you have the license that. If you're using After Effects, you have access to Mocha AE, which is bundled for free. And Mocha AE is a stripped-down variation of Mocha, which is nevertheless still very good for motion tracking. There's also Mocha VR, which is legacy. At this point, the VR tools are included with Mocha Pro. Another variation of Mocha is integrated into the Boris continuum set of effects. Many of these effects allow you to launch a special variation of Mocha. Plus there's the dedicated Corner Pin Studio for corner pin tracking and Match Move for match moving. If you don't have access to Mocha Pro, that's okay. Can you just Mocha AE and still follow along. Most of the techniques still apply. This course also includes exercise files. And I'll take a look at that next.
