Join Chris Converse for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding content to marquee panels, part of Creating a Marquee in WordPress with jQuery.
Now that we have a custom post type showing up in the admin, let's come over here to Marquee. Next, let's come up and click Add New. What we're going to do is, add four panels for the marquee. So, I have some content over in the snippets file. Let's switch back over to our code editor. Let's close the functions.php file. Let's go over to our snippets. Come down and find snippet three. So, for panel one, let's come in here and copy Not a cloud in the sky. Let's switch back to the admin, let's paste that in as the title. Let's switch back to our code editor.
Let's grab description goes here, and the learn more, copy that to the clipboard. Switch back over to WordPress. Let's paste that in the content area. Now, I'm going to get the cursor before the learn more. I'm going to hit Delete and then Return, just to make sure I get a paragraph space. Now, let's come in here and add a hyperlink for learn more. So we'll select this, click on the link. Let's just link this to Lynda.com. Let's click Add Link. And then finally, over on the side, we have the set featured image. This was turned on by the thumbnail setting in the supports, let's click on Featured Image.
Instead of selecting a file, let's go to the media library, let's come in here and select the desert picture and then click Set Featured Image. Once these are in place, let's come up here and click Publish. And now, in the main marquee listing, we have our first panel showing up. So, now, at this point, you can go back to the snippets and use that content to create three additional marquee panels. When you're done, you'll have Not a cloud in the sky, Healthy ride to work, Get ready for spring, and The bridges are in bloom. For the Healthy ride to work, I use the bicycle image. I used the garden flowers for the Get ready for spring panel.
