Here in pages, if you wanted to, you could also add multi media to your documents. Sometimes that doesn't make sense, for example, if you're going to be printing out your document, you don't need to add movies and sound clips but if you're going to be saving your document to an online format. Let's say a PDF for example that's going to be posted online. You can create areas where people can click to watch movies or listen to audio. So, let's see how we insert media, including audio and video, into a Pages document.
We'll work with a news flyer that we started in previous chapters. You can open up KEcoFlyer0706 if you need to get caught up. We're going to insert another page. Let's go up to the Insert menu and select Page. So we now have a second page. It's blank. And all we're going to do, because we're in Page Layout mode, is add a title at the top. Let's click the Text Box Button on the toolbar. And where it says type to enter text, we'll click inside and we'll just type in media page.
Next we'll click outside the box and then click once to select the entire box. If we wanted to we could get fancy with styles and so on, let's just choose one of the styles. And let's go to the Text tab and we'll bump that up. I'm going to bump it up to. How about 28 points, just like so? It's centered. Let's center it in the box, as well. Resize the box. I'm going to size it down and stretch it out and just move that up near the top of the page. This is our media page. Okay. Now, we want to insert that media.
There's a couple things we can do. We can go to the Media button and this gives us access to our photos in iPhoto, we also have music in iTunes. So if it's there, you could select it. Movies. Or if you prefer, you can go to the Insert menu and insert an object just by choosing it. So let's do that. We'll click in the page in the background. Click Insert, and then Choose. From here, we'll navigate to our chapter 7 folder of the Exercise Files. You'll see. We have an MP3 file that's a testimonial and we also have a movie file a Quicktime movie Kinetico PSA let's start with that and click answer.
It takes a moment but you can see what happens its inserted like a graphic but there's a Play button in the middle and if we want to hear it and watch it we just click the Play button clicking again when we're done to Pause. >> It's happening all over the world. Every day people are harnessing the power of the sun. >> So we click again to Pause. Perfect. Okay. Now we can do things like resize this, like we would with a graphic. Move it around on the page so it's centered. And if we wanted to, now we could add underneath maybe a title. Let's go to our text box again.
Let's move this text box. So we'll just click and drag it down underneath. Again we'll center and center and the text that we want to type in here by clicking is Public Service Announcement like so. Let's deselect and reselect the box. Size it. I'm going to bump up the size so it's a little bit easier to read. And there we go. Now let's go back to it for a second, because when we select it, you'll see there is a Style tab here. So we can do things like make it look cool on the page.
I like this style where it looks like it's curling off the page. But there are other options you might want to consider. Just go through them til you see something you like. And then down below, you'll see the border has been selected for you based on the style you selected, shadow, reflection, et cetera. But there's also a Movie tab now and when we click it, here's where we can go to access controls for playing, rewinding, fast forwarding. Look at the Edit Movie section here. We can trim things off the beginning and the end. Or select what we call a poster frame. I like this. Instead of looking at a black box when we get to this page, we might wannaa see an image from the movie.
That's what's called the Poster Frame. So let's click and drag the slider across, until we see something that's acceptable. How about that, right there. That becomes the poster frame. That's what people will see when they arrive at this page. Kind of cool. How about the Repeat button? It's not going to repeat. But, if people hit the Play button and they don't press Stop, what happens? Well, it just ends at the end by leaving none selected. But, we could have it loop if we wanted to. Go back to the beginning and start over. We don't want it looping back and forth, going backwards from the end to beginning.
So, Loop and None are good options. I'm going to it at None, but just so you know they're there. We also have volume control here, and these are controls you would access in the document in Pages. If you're going to be saving to an online format, though, different controls might become available depending on how it's being viewed. All right, let's deselect by clicking in the background. And that's our movie file. What about an audio file? Let's go back to Insert. This time when we go to Choose and go to the chapter seven folder, we'll select farmer testimonial.
This is an mp3 file and when we insert it, you can see what it looks like. A little Play button with a speaker. So we can move that around like an object, and if we wanted to, we could add some text that would say click the Play button to hear testimonial. Lets move this around, and down, we'll center it too, click inside. Click the Play button to hear a testimonial. There we go. All right. You can select that text box again.
Doesn't need to be quite that large. Get things lined up nicely. Knowing that it's centered. Beautiful. Looks good. Ready to test it out. Click the Play button, there's also a volume button here that allows us to adjust the volume. >> I'm here at my well, we're about a mile from my house. What I feel right now coming through this pipe is 35 gallons a minute of water that's taking care of- >> 'Kay, clicking the Pause button pauses it right where it was. And that's how we add audio and video to a page's document. This'll be particularly useful if we're going to be exporting or saving to a format that would be viewed online.
