Using AirPlay to stream content from iTunes to an AppleTV or Airport Express

With the release of iTunes 10.1, Apple introduced AirPlay. AirPlay is based on a previous technology from Apple called AirTunes, which allowed you to stream music from your iTunes library to AirPort Express wifi devices. But now that it's been revamped as AirPlay, a whole world of options has opened up. Not only does AirPlay allow you to stream your iTunes music to an AirPort Express device, but you can also stream audio and video to an Apple TV, or to any number of other third-party products that are quickly appearing on the market. So you'll be able to stream your iTunes content to speakers in another room of your house or through your main entertainment system.

And the beauty of AirPlay is that it requires virtually no set up. As long as your devices are all on the same local network, iTunes will find them, and you'll immediately be able to play your content through them.
