- [Instructor] With iOS 10, iPads have a couple…of multitasking capabilities in addition…to the multitasking view we looked at on the iPhone…in a previous movie.…For example, let's say I'm working in Mail,…and I'm composing a new e-mail to a friend.…I'll talk about using and setting up Mail later,…but from within any app,…you can activate Slide Over by swiping in…from the right of the iPad screen.…Now at the moment, it's showing me…the last app I used in the slider review,…which in this case is Microsoft Word,…but I can swipe down from the top…of this panel to hide Word.…So this gives you a vertically scrolling…collection of icons for all the apps on your iPad…that support Slide Over.…
This includes both Apple apps,…and any apps third-party developers…have designed to support this,…and just tap any app to open it in the side panel.…For example, maybe I need to look up…an address to send to my e-mail, so I'll open up Maps.…So now I have Maps running here in the side panel,…the same way it would run if it were…the primary app I was working with,…

9/28/2016New iPhone and iPad owners should start with the basics. Garrick shows how to use the touch screen and keyboard and start communicating with Siri, Apple's new and improved digital assistant. Then learn about making and receiving calls, emailing, browsing the web with Safari, getting directions from Maps, taking notes, shooting photos, watching videos, and listening to music. Plus, discover how to extend the functionality of your iPhone or iPad by installing one of the 2 million+ apps available in the App Store. The course wraps up with some essential tips to help you customize your device, protect your privacy, and troubleshoot your iPhone or iPad if you encounter a problem.
