Deliver new features and earn extra income from your apps. Learn how to implement in-app purchasing with the StoreKit framework in iOS 11.
- [Ron] In-app purchases can be found everywhere in the App Store. From games to productivity tools, in-app purchases are allowing developers to offer additional features to their apps, all while giving themselves another revenue stream to capitalize on. Hi, I'm Ron Buencamino, and welcome to this course on including in-app purchases into your iOS projects. Today, we're going to discuss what's necessary to deliver in-app purchase functionality right to your users. We'll go over the different types of in-app purchases you can offer, we'll setup your products in iTunes Connect, and then take a deep dive into the store kit framework, which is a set of tools Apple provides that allows you to put up a storefront right inside of your app.
Along the way, we'll cover the ins and outs of offering purchases and get a good understanding of the different avenues you can take to deliver in-app features all while earning some extra cash in your pocket. We'll even learn about how to ask for reviews from within our app to better our effort to improve our App Store ranking. Now there's a lot to get through, so let's get started.
First, get an overview of StoreKit and the types of purchases you can offer, including consumable and non-consumable products and non-renewing and auto-renewable subscriptions. Next, learn how to configure new products for sale with iTunes Connect and display a storefront right within your app. Ron then shows how to request and process payments, and deliver users' purchases to their iOS devices. Plus, learn about restoring purchased content—a smart strategy for keeping your app rating high—and requesting reviews from users using the new SKStoreReviewController API, which doesn't require leaving the app.
