- Most people are used to writing and editing text…on a computer using a mouse and keyboard.…So when we started writing text on touchscreen devices,…we had to learn a new way to select text,…which was not always so easy.…In iOS 9, there's a new set of tools…for selecting text and placing your cursor.…As handy as these new features are,…they're only available on the iPad, not the iPhone,…so we're going to stick with the iPad for now.…So here I am in an email message…where I've already typed in some text,…and now I need to go back and make changes.…
Now, I could just tap anywhere…on the text to place my cursor,…but that can be kind of inaccurate…and it can be difficult to get the cursor…in just the right spot.…In previous versions of iOS,…what you would do is tap and hold,…you would see this little magnifying glass,…then you would move around,…and when you get your cursor to the right spot,…you can let go.…Now, this is still going to work on an iPhone, of course,…but it is a little bit slower.…On the iPad, you're going to have some new features…
