- [Instructor] This week's Monday Productivity Pointer is all about shortcuts in Windows. Not keyboard shortcuts; I'm talking about file shortcuts. Have you ever installed a new application and then you see an icon like this one on the Desktop? I installed Chrome, but this icon on the Desktop is not the Chrome application. It's a shortcut to the Chrome application. Most applications are actually stored in a specific folder on your hard drive. But, to make things easier, you can keep a shortcut that links to that application here on the Desktop to launch it. You can have shortcuts to files, folders, and applications. Anything you need quick access to without moving the original file. So, first, you can identify a shortcut by this curved arrow on the bottom corner of the icon. This is a shortcut to the Chrome application, but this is an actual file that is stored on the Desktop. It does not have that curved arrow.
