Join Simon Allardice for an in-depth discussion in this video Auto Layout in Xcode 5, part of iOS 7 SDK New Features.
Auto Layout isn't new.…It was available in iOS 6, and it was part of Xcode 4.5.…I even had a section on it in the last iOS new features course.…So why am I talking about it now?…Well the rules of Auto Layout haven't changed.…So if you decided to learn it, your good.…But working with Auto Layout is different in Xcode 5.…It doesn't do a lot of the things Xcode 4 used to do.…And the fact that it doesn't do those things…is really good because it makes it easier for…us to get started with Auto Layout in our applications.…
And that's sounds a little cryptic.…Let me give you an example. If I had added a button in Xcode 4.5 or…4.6 using Auto Layout and say dragged one to the top left blue guidelines.…It would have added that button.…And also added an Auto Layout constraint connecting the top…of the button to the top of the super view.…And another one…on the left to control the position of that button.…If I dragged on a button to the top right, it would give me the equivalent…on the top on the right, and the bottom left and the bottom right, and so on.…
