- [Narrator] Before we start working with iMovie, we need to have some video clips to work with. So let's take a look at a couple of ways in which you can bring video footage into iMovie. If you're using iMovie, chances are you're going to be working with footage you shot on your iPhone or iPad or some other type of memory based camera. What I mean by memory based is that you're not shooting video onto tapes or disk. iMovie is still capable of importing footage from tape or disk based cameras, but it's not as common these days. If you do need to import from an older camera, you'll most likely need a variety of adapters that convert from the old style FireWire cables to the USB ports on newer Macs. In this case, though, we're going to concentrate on importing from memory based cameras like the iPhone, or cameras that use removable storage cards, like DSLR cameras or GoPros, for example.
