Join Garrick Chow for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding background music, part of iMovie 10.0.2 Essential Training.
…Now let's look at how to add background music to our iMovie project.…Now previously we saw how to add sound effects,…music, and other audio clips to our project, but…the method I used was to drag them into…my project and attach them to one of my clips.…And again this means if I drag the clip anywhere,…the sounds attached to it move along with it.…But what I want is some music that plays from the beginning of…my project and won't be moved if I shuffle my video clips around.…I'm going to turn off audio skimming by pressing shift+s, so…we don't hear that as I move over my clips here.…So to add background music to your iMovie project, you can either drag it…in from a Finder window on your Mac, or browse through the Content Library.…
Which gives you access to your iTunes…library, any GarageBand songs you've composed, as…well as the Sound Effects Libraries, which…contains hundreds of sound effects and musical pieces.…If you are dragging in your own music, just note that it has to be…in a QuickTime compatible format like an MP3, an AIF file, or an AAC file.…
