- Let's explore how widgets and tables work in ePub documents. Widgets are interactive objects that we can add to ePubs to increase the functionality and engagement of our books for our readers. With ePubs we have widgets for adding Galleries, Media, such as audio and video, Pop-over widgets and custom HTML widgets. In an earlier chapter, we saw how to create, add and manage all of the settings for each type of widget. All of these functionality still hold for the subset of widgets that we can add to ePub books. To learn more about how to use a particular widget, please refer to the appropriate movies in the Widgets Chapter. What is different about widgets in ePub documents is how you place them on a page. In the last movie, I mentioned that all objects placed in an ePub document and iBooks Author are in line objects. However, most widgets act as a hybrid in line anchored object.
