Photo collage layout

- Let's go ahead and finish building our custom photo collage layout for our explore California travel guide. To begin, click and drag a selection around all of the elements of our image. Can then go up to the arrange menu and select group so we can make a grouping of all of those elements. Copy, using the commands c keyboard command and then paste a new copy using command v. We can then resize this image. We can move it to a new location and if we open up the inspector and we go over to the metrics tab, you can adjust the rotation of that image and move it into place. Repeat this process several times until you get a layout that works for you. I'm going to add just a few copies of my layout here and we'll add one more down here in the corner, rotate it up, drop that guy into place. It would be very helpful to have this image pushed further back in the stack so we'll go up tot he arrange menu and we'll select send to back. We can then take our initial image, drag it down a little bit, and now we have a pretty good layout that has our images looking pretty much like a photo collage. Feel free to add additional images or play with the layout to get something that appeals to you. Once you have a layout that works for you, press command a on your keyboard to select all the elements on your layout. Then go up to the arrange menu and select ungroup to ungroup all of the various different elements. Now, we'll need to go to the layout tab of our inspector and one by one click on each of the images and recheck the box for editable on pages using this layout. Even though we made this selection in an earlier movie, as soon as we made the groupings and then ungroup the images all of a sudden the text became uneditable. So we'll simply go through, click on each image, and click on each box of text, and reset the editable tag. Now, we're all finished with our layout. We're ready to go and apply this to a new page. To do this, simply click on the explore California chapter, go to the add pages button, go down to pages and then select photo collage from the drop down menu. The new photo collage layout appears. We can then open up the media browser and we can begin adding images onto our layout. As we drop the images in, one by one, we're able to drop them into place, and then we can go in and title each of the images for the explorer that submitted the image. We can simply double click and then select the text and then type int he explorers name. For text that's highly rotated, you'll notice that the text rotates to allow us to type and then as soon as we click away the text rotates back into place. Be sure to type in the name and then click away to have the text completed in place. There we go. We've been able to create a custom photo collage. You'll also note that down at the bottom our cycle California chapter text has been entered automatically for us and the page has the correct page number on it.
