Custom template
- Now that we have a firm grasp on customizing layouts, the next step is to create your own custom template that you can reuse or share with others. There are two basic approaches you can take to creating templates. The first is to start from scratch with a custom design that you build up from a blank template. The second is to modify an existing layout. Start with a layout you're happy with, and make a duplicate by going up to the File menu and selecting Duplicate. Change the name of the file so it's clear you're working off of a copy. I'll name mine EC_template_start . Next, let's clean up our layouts. Our chapter layout still has the original placeholder image, so let's replace that with a new image that matches our book's theme. Be sure to click the Apply Changes button. Do the same thing for any of the other layouts in your template. I've already done that to our section layout.
