Working with Inkscape dialogs

- One of the most important parts of Inkscape's user interface are it's dockable dialogs. Let's take a look at how they work. First, let's get some terminology clear. What Inkscape calls dialogs are called pallets or panels in other drawing and graphics applications. There are parts of the interface that you use as you create and edit aspects of your artwork and you can leave them open as long as you want. They're not like modal dialog boxes that you have to close before you can do anything else. You can move Inkscape's dialogs freely around your screen, dock them together and close them when you're done. Right now, I don't have any dialogs open, but I can open some by using buttons in the user interface or by using certain keyboard shortcuts or menu commands. I'll open the Fill and Stroke dialog by choosing Object, Fill and Stroke. And I can drag it around where I want it on my screen. And if I want to dock it to the side of…
