- Would you like to know my favorite questions? Through my career, I've served as a coach, trainer, and consultant and I've found there are two questions that are almost universal in their application. They're powerful, they're simple, and anyone can use them. The first question is what result are you hoping to get? This focusing question is powerful because it helps someone get clear about their desired outcome. When dealing with difficult situations, it's common for all of us to have thoughts swirling around in our head. We either don't know where to start or we're trying to accomplish too many things at once. This question, what result are you hoping to get, quickly cuts through that mental clutter. You can ask yourself this question while problem solving or perhaps you're in a group meeting that is wandering and you might ask, "I'm wondering. "Have we defined the result we want to achieve?"
