Using the Shell command

- [Instructor] The Shell command is a great way to create uniform wall thickness parts. In this case here I've got this part and I want to shell out the entire back of this piece so it will nest together with another one. To do that let's go over here to the Shell command and I'm going to go ahead and just define the wall thickness as being a point one and then define if there's any of these faces that I'd like to remove. In this case I'd like to remove just the bottom face. Go ahead and click on OK and you can see SolidWorks easily removes all that material and makes this part a uniform wall thickness throughout. Let's go ahead and cut that part in half and look at it. You can see here everything is uniform as it goes through the entire part so the Shell command is pretty straightforward and easy to use.
