Understanding grief

- In 2015 my husband Steve died of cancer. I was devastated and I was not prepared for the grief that was coming my way. It completely took me over, engulfing me in its fury. I felt so many emotions as a result of that grief, anger, sadness, anxiety. I even felt relief because his cancer journey had been brutal and then I felt guilty about the relief. Grief is a really challenging time for people, especially after a very significant death, like that of my husband. I learned first-hand that grief is so intense and so misunderstood in our culture. As a result, I founded Grief Warrior. Our mission is to bring recognition, respect, and reconnection to the grieving. My name is Leslie Barber and this course is for managers who want to learn how to handle grief. My hope is that after taking this course, you will be able to reframe how you think about grief from a taboo topic to a universal source of connection. When we break it down and learn why people grieve, it's much easier to see it as something that makes sense.
