(upbeat music) - Jeff Hawkins was the creator of the revolutionary GRiDPad, one of the first handheld computers. Do you remember it? Probably not. It was a total failure because it was just too big, so when he started work on creating something better, he began with the form factor. He went out to his garage and cut a piece of wood the same size as his shirt pocket. He wrapped it in white tape and made a hole for a broken chopstick to act as a stylus. Fro weeks he carried this around imagining how he might use it in meetings to take notes, to put appointments in his calendar, and to do other tasks.
