Should I trust the hot new app?

- Think of the last app you installed on your phone. Now, ask yourself, what parts of your phone does it have access to? Your camera, your current location, your mother's phone number? So, should I trust the hot new app? Your phone is amazing, we don't often stop to think about it, but it has a lot of hardware built into it. It has a microphone and speaker for making phone calls, a camera, can't forget the front-facing camera, a compass, antenna, like GPS or Wi-Fi. It even has a flashlight. Fingerprint scanner for buying things online. And that doesn't even list things that are done in software, like calculator, address book, (ringing) even an alarm clock. When you install an app on your phone it has to get permission for you to use each of these things on your device. Installing an app feels so trivial, but would you be willing to hand over all of these things to some developer over the internet you've never met.
