- Scales are essential in the development of your technique on the bass. Let me just walk you through the fingering before we start. It's open, one, four, on F sharp and G sharp on the E string. Then we're going to go open A, one, four, on E and C sharp, and one, two, four on E sharp and F sharp. Then one, two on G sharp, and A on the E string. Then we'll slide up to two on the B and four on the C sharp. We'll go one, two, four, E sharp, E, F sharp on the G string. And one, two, four, G sharp, A, and B on the G string. And finally, we'll go one, three, four on C sharp, E sharp, E. And we'll come down the same way. So here's with drum machine very slowly.
