Rest values

Rest values

- So far, we've covered five types of note values. They each have a corresponding duration of silence known as a rest. A rest is a symbol used to indicate silence. This is a whole rest. When we see this, we're silent for four beats. This is a half rest. When we see this, we're silent for two beats. Here's a quarter rest. When we see this, we're silent for one beat. This is an eighth rest. This indicates a half a beat of silence. And this is a sixteenth rest. This indicates a quarter of a beat of silence. These are the foundations to our study of music theory. Make sure you understand this material before moving on.
