Reasonable expectations
- The next facet of the duty triangle is expectations. This is where we flip the perspective and look at your design from the user's perspective by asking the question, what are the user's reasonable expectations? As before, work individually to capture all possible expectations, then compare notes. This reasonable expectations test is useful in finding solutions to risks and challenges you've documented so far. One thing that's often left out of design conversations is what expectations the end user has to your design. Not in that they expect you to design a thing they can use, but what are their expectations for what you do when you make these creations? What responsibilities do they think you have? That's the information that falls into this expectations section. What are the reasonable expectations anyone affected by our design can have towards your design?
