Production insurance: Worth it?

- This week on The Practicing Photographer, I'm here doing some pre-production for a shoot, and it's brought up an issue that we haven't talked about before. Here's what's going on. I need to do a simple shoot with a model, but I need to use some pretty large strobe lights and I don't have room for them here in my house where I would normally do that sort of thing, so I want to rent a little studio space. I've poked around online, I found a place that I want, it fits my budget, but now an unforeseen expense has come up, and that is this. The owner of the place is demanding proof of production insurance. Any time you go on location, whether it's an outdoor location or a studio rental, there's a possibility that the owner of that location will demand that you have proof of production insurance before they'll let you shoot there.
