Prepare a complete and succinct sheet template
- [Instructor] Starting with the complete drawing template is the first step to preparing a great drawing. In this video, we'll discuss the standard sheet sizes for engineering drawings, list the elements required for a complete title block, and show how to perform drawing revisions. When preparing a new drawing, the first decision the drafter must make is the size of the page. There are 10 standard sheet sizes in the ASME system, lettered from A to K, skipping I. Each is a multiple of the A size, which has the same dimensions as standard 8 1/2-by-11 letter paper. When selecting a sheet size, the designer should consider how many views are required to represent the part and how many dimensions will appear in each view. Oftentimes, this process ends up being iterative, meaning that as you choose views and place dimensions, you may need to adjust the sheet size and view scale to keep things looking clean and organized.
