PowerApps forms vs. Microsoft Forms

- [Instructor] Sometimes it seems that Microsoft has a little bit of a problem when it comes to naming things. For instance, Office Graph is some functionality running in the background of O365 that collects data on user interactions and content. But it's also the name of the O365 API set used by developers to connect to other applications. Oh yeah, and both of those are also called Microsoft Graph too. So it's not entirely surprising that there's some opportunity for confusion around a few other products as well. In this case, you may have heard about something called Microsoft Forms and wondering if that's what this class is about. Now, it isn't. Forms is a simple standalone product at this time. It is not a replacement to InfoPath and does not integrate easily with SharePoint. What we're talking about here is creating forms for SharePoint using PowerApps Forms, which is in itself only a subset of the PowerApps tool. And it probably doesn't help that PowerApps is a tool that can be used to create apps that are available on mobile devices and that SharePoint uses what they call apps, which are add-ons to the basic package that add functionality, and that Sharepoint and PowerApps are often referred to as applications themselves. Now seriously, we've got this whole big book. It's called a dictionary, and you'd think that they'd come up with some more unique names for these things. And then of course there's PowerApps, and Power BI, and Power Pivot, and Power View, and PowerPoint. Honestly, you can only say that it's all a little bit overpowering. Anyways, I want to make it clear that this course has a very specific focus. We will be using Microsoft PowerApps to create customized forms in SharePoint O365. When we get into some of the more advanced methods, I may refer to some other tools as well, but I will be as exact as possible to try and avoid any unnecessary confusion. Wish me luck. Now if you want more information on using PowerApps in general, there are some courses in the online library that can help. I'd recommend you start with Microsoft PowerApps Essential Training The Basics, and then move on to Beyond the Basics.
