Metal 3D printing on a budget

- [Joan] What if you could 3D print metal parts in an ordinary machine shop without breaking your budget? Recently, film and 3D printing, metal injection molding, and inkjet printing all have contributed to new ways of 3D printing directly in metal. - [Rich] One method creates filament of a mix of metal powder and plastics that can be printed on an ordinary 3D printer. When the plastic is melted out and the metal sintered you're left with a solid metal part. - [Joan] Other systems spray binders onto metal powders to create large number of parts in a similar way. - [Rich] The range of available metals is expanding quickly. An ecosystem to outsource selected parts of the process is taking shape. - [Joan] We're Joan Horvath and Rich Cameron, the co-founders of Nonscriptum LLC and authors of many books on 3D printing and related technologies. - [Rich] Join us as we explore these lower-cost metal 3D printing techniques. You learn the nuts and bolts and we'll help you decide if it's right for your business. Let's get started.
