Merging HDR images

- [Instructor] Another type of merging is HDR merging. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. If you're dealing with a photo that has a wide range of detail, HDR can come in handy. Here, you see that we took a series of shots at different exposures. Most cameras support a feature called autobracketing. The over-exposed image is great for revealing details in the shadows, while the under-exposed image preserves details up here in areas like the clouds. By selecting a range of photos, you can choose to merge these together. This works best with raw images and a new DNG file will be made. Right click and choose photo merge and select HDR merge. The shortcut is control + h. Once you select this, the images are evaluated. It takes a moment, but it will begin to merge them together. Make sure to take advantage of options like Auto Align, which, if you're shooting handheld, can compensate for small movement between the photos. In…
