Mating parts by aligning planes

- [Instructor] There are a whole bunch of different ways to mate components together. And there's a little bit of a hierarchy going on. And basically if you choose something like a fundamental plane, and you mate a fundamental plane to a fundamental plane of another object, you've basically got an unbreakable mate. Now if you have something like a face to a face mate, it's still pretty strong, but it's still breakable because you could remove that face from the model. And generally when you have more complicated models with a lot of mates, the more plane to plane mates or face to face mates you can add, the better your assembly's going to be. As you move down that hierarchy, like a line to line mate's a little bit weaker. And a point to point mate or a point to something else mate is really the weakest one you can choose. So you generally want to try to choose face to face or plane to plane as the most and strongest mates. And sometimes you're actually forced to do those type of…
