From the course: Theory for the Contemporary Guitarist
Major and perfect intervals
- Interval qualities are further defined by the quality names in conjunction with the number names of an interval. So let's begin with major and perfect. Every interval measured from the tonic of a one octave major scale can be named with the following names. Perfect unison, major 2nd, major 3rd, perfect 4th, perfect 5th, major 6th, major 7th, and perfect octave, or 8th. The 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th degrees of any major scale will always be major. The unison, 4th, 5th, and octave in any major scale will always be perfect.
