Low-power strobes

- A lot of people get hung up on the flash versus strobe decision, and it can be a tricky one. We're accustomed to thinking that more is better, and strobes have more of just about everything. Power, recycle efficiency, modifier options, but they also have more in terms of cost and weight and difficulty in lugging them around. Flashes are very portable and inexpensive. This decision can be particularly confusing if you don't have a lot of experience with flash shooting, and so don't know how you like to shoot. Over the last few years, a new category of product has come to market. A middle ground between a speed light and a typical mono light. This is a Godox AD200. It's not much bigger than a speed light. See here, they're about the same size, but it packs 200 watt seconds of power, and it has a flash tube that's the same size and shape as the one on my 400 watt Elinchrom strobe system and this 600 watt mono light.
