- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. And welcome to this course, where we'll be exploring mirrorless and micro four thirds cameras. Our goal here is that you are comfortable with the technology behind these types of cameras, and how to get the most out of them. We'll kick things off with a quick start that'll work with all different cameras. You're going to learn how to ensure that your camera is set up correctly, things like the lens is attached, battery loaded, memory card, et cetera. Next, we'll explore some of the technology that affects mirrorless shooting. If you've used other types of cameras, such as traditional DSLRs or cell phones, there are things that are very different about shooting with mirrorless cameras. I'll make sure you understand things like the effect of the sensor size, as well as shooting with a WYSIWYG-type style, where you can actually see what's happening right within your electronic viewfinder, or on the live view display. We'll then explore options when it comes to lenses. And there are a wealth of options available. Whether you're working with the manufacturer of your camera, or third-party choices. It really comes down to the types of shooting you're going to do. Whether you're shooting landscapes or portraits, shooting video, need to shoot in low light conditions, I'll help you understand what choices matter when choosing a lens. We'll then kick things off with shooting in the programmed auto mode. This is a great mode that gets you out of true auto, and allows you to have some flexibility. You'll start in an automatic mode, but get the ability to make changes that influence the quality of your shot. Properties like shutter speed and aperture. We'll then ensure that you have sharp, in-focus pictures, by learning how to take advantage of the auto-focus settings on your camera. And we'll talk about how the shutter affects the shot. I'll teach you how to drag the shutter to get extended motion, as well as freeze fast-moving objects. We'll also explore things like exposure controls, so you always get the type of shot you want. We'll move beyond some of the basics, as well, and give you insight into some of the more advanced things you could accomplish with your camera. And we'll take a quick look at recording video as well. Now, what this all comes down to is we're going to explore several different types of cameras in this course. I've got different manufacturers here represented, and what you're going to see is that all of these cameras have a lot in common. Therefore, make sure that you are comfortable with your camera at a basic level. I suggest you keep it nearby. And as we explore things, it doesn't matter which camera I'm using. Use your own camera and bring the techniques to life.
