- Latin music is very important for the bassist. It has infiltrated all kinds of jazz music and even into pop music. Check out guys like Israel Lopez, also known as Cachao, Bobby Rodriguez, and now Oskar Cartaya. Check out Tito Puente records, Ray Barretto records, the group Afrocuba, and listen to this very emotional music. Now the foundation of this music is the clave.
