- [Instructor] So in this meditation, about healing painful experiences, we'll use the fundamental way that your brain makes memories to actually shift the emotional tone over time of painful memories in a more comfortable and positive direction. Everybody has painful experiences. I definitely have had painful experiences. Maybe it's embarrassing moments in school as a kid or repeated feelings of inadequacy in life or maybe even intensely traumatic experiences as a child or an adult. Now, this meditation's no substitute of course for professional care for traumas or for a history of difficult experiences but whether you're just dealing with kind of the normal-range ups and downs of life or even things outside that normal range, this meditation can show you a way to use the machinery of memory in your brain to shift the tone in a more positive direction.
