InfraWorks 2021: Traffic and Mobility Analysis

- [Lynda] Have you ever been stuck in a queue of traffic at an intersection and thought, "Were these signals programmed by martians? "Did they not realize "that if we built a new shopping center, "there'd be more cars coming through this intersection? "What were they thinking?!" You know, sure, it is a good opportunity to fix your lipstick or have a nap, or firmly yet politely point out some of the failings in your fellow drivers' abilities, but it's also a big fat pain in the gluteus maximus. My name is Lynda Sharkey and in this course, I'll show you how to use both traffic analysis and mobility simulation within InfraWorks to model the outcome that a proposed development may have on existing traffic flows. I'll show you how to set up a traffic study area and run a quick simulation. We'll find out where to get information to plug into traffic-modeling scenarios. We'll learn how to work with fixed signal and signalized intersections. We'll learn how to adjust signal groups and timing, and the effect that these things may have on traffic flow, even though those things haven't been built yet. We'll also model how pedestrians could interact with and influence our traffic network, and how to view these simulations within an animated form. I can't promise you that you'll spend less time waiting at red lights, but at least it'll give you something else to think about when the car in front of you has changed lane for the 14th time in 5 minutes.
