How to outline and write your episode, tying it to relatable stories

- Cool, so you've decided what your creative concept is going to be, you've got a little bit of sense of who's going to be on camera, whether that's you or somebody else, and now we're going to dive into the story process, the writing process, the outlining. Doesn't need to be complicated, right? Could be something that you do just on your phone like a notepad, and you're just kind of bulleting out the points that your going to make for a tips video or something else. I think the important thing to know very practically is that you need to do it, right? You got to make sure that the value that you're saying you're going to deliver, you deliver in the video in an efficient way. The next thing to know is about story, right? You might think well story isn't relating to a tips video but the truth I mean story telling as a way of communication is as old as time and we just relate better to stories, so instead of just giving a tips video around all right, I'm going to list for you the top 10 reasons that you shouldn't drink this kind of particular juice or something like that, you might frame it with a story, okay? Here's what this could sound like. The last time I went to the store, I saw a mom and she was just standing in the aisle, staring for like five or six minutes straight, and I just thought, you know, what if she knew just some basic information around juices that could help her make a decision to give her a healthy juice for her kids, right? There's a little story and it's not complicated but it helps people relate to the reason that they might want to learn some tips for picking out the right kind of juices for them, right? So the other thing I'll tell you that works well when you're storytelling on video, because it's visual are props, right? So I brought a little juice with me, I'm going to try it out to show off the brand but if I were reading the label here as a tips video it would definitely help to be looking at some juice, and if I was trying to illustrate, wow there's so much sugar in so many juices that have high fructose corn syrup, it might help to hold up some sugar, right? Two visuals that help you to tell your story, essentially props, right? Movies have them, so do videos, it's just part of the deal, people can see things. So the important part of this section is to know that whatever it is that you're communicating as a part of your video should have some sort of written out bullet pointed list of things you're going to say, and to contextualize that with a story that people can relate to, right? So your to do item here is write out your little script whether that's a little outline or something you don't have to read off of it, just have it handy and then think of a little story that could contextualize your particular kind of video.
