How app development works: Learning Universal Windows App Development

LinkedIn principal author Doug Winnie describes how the app development process works. All apps are created using Visual Studio and start as a solution, which contains a project. Inside that project there are settings for the app, layout specifications, design assets, application behavior, and the inclusion of the Windows SDK. Those five components are then converted into native code using a compiler during a build process and then result in an app that can run on a local developer machine or can be submitted to Microsoft for review and listing in the Windows Store.
