Discover the different grouping elements in Presto.
- [Narrator] Presto supports the anti-standard…ways of grouping data, and there might be…some here that you are unfamiliar with…if you've been living in MySQL or Oracle…or any of these other platforms that don't support them.…I thought it was important to dive into these and show…how you can return multiple levels of aggregation…in a single sequel query.…Let's start by logging into Presto,…and we'll just do a query that combines some data…from our MySQL customer table and the nation table in Hive.…
So I'll start with select nat.n_name as nation,…market segment as market,…average account bal as average bal.…Now count of one and count…and we'll start by going from mysql.test.customer,…call that cust.…And then we'll join over to hive.default.nation,…call that nat.…On cust.nationkey = nat.n_nationkey.…
Now I'll add my group by…and I could just group by one of these fields here,…or I'd have to add at least nation and market there,…but if I wanted to return multiple grouping options,…I can add to this grouping sets.…So I'm group by and now I'm giving it grouping sets.…
Data science expert Ben Sullins helps you get up to speed with Presto, and leverage it to accomplish a wide-range of data science and analytics tasks. He uses different interfaces with Presto—such as R and Tableau—and digs into the expressive SQL language that Presto offers for your analysis. At the end of this course, you'll know the key concepts of Presto and how to use them to take full advantage of your modern big data system.
