Extruding true 3D geometry

- [Instructor] Now, it is possible to actually create true three-dimensional objects natively inside of After Effects without having to create a new layer using the Cinema 4D layer. You can actually just extrude a layer as long as you're in the Cinema 4D renderer. So first thing, I'll go to the upper right corner of the composition panel and I'll click on the classic 3D button, and I'll make sure the renderer is Cinema 4D. Then I'll click OK. Now I'll select layer one, which is my Illustrator layer, and I'll press A + A, which will open up geometry options and material options. And you'll notice with a Illustrator layer, I can do things like curve that layer, but there are no options for me to actually extrude that layer. Now, if you're unfamiliar with the term extrude, think of, like, Play-Doh through a stencil. That's in essence what extrusion is doing. It's going to look at the edges of the shape and then extrude depth out of those edges. Now, I can convert an Illustrator layer…
