Drawing slots - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS 2019 Essential Training
Drawing slots
- Slots are used quite a bit in designing products and Solidworks has got a couple of nice tools for designing slots. Now if you didn't have these tools you of course could create a slot using regular lines and arcs or circles and then trim them out, but the slot command that we have in Solidworks really will save you a lot of time. Let me show you how it works. First thing I want to do is come up here under the sketch toolbar click on this very first one here which is the straight slot. Click that one there and just click where you want to start, drag out to where you want to end, and then just define what that radius is of the slot. Click again and now you have a slot. So pretty straight forward and simple to use. Once you have that slot you can then move that slot around by changing the size you can grab the endpoints and kind of drag those around. Notice by default here I have a horizontal relationship that has been added. I can of course delete that if I want to to move it…
