- These days, it seems like job descriptions for data science positions list more and more required skills that are necessary for applicants. It can be impossible to know which skills you should learn. Creating a portfolio and continually adding projects to your portfolio can be a great way to pick up a new technology or skill and showcase your mastery. But how do you know what types of things you should be adding that will grab employers' attention? In this lesson, I will go over how to build a GitHub portfolio and some of the most important characteristics of a data science portfolio. To create a GitHub portfolio, you must first have a GitHub account. It's free to create an account at github.com. When you add your repositories and mark them as public, they are automatically a part of your portfolio. Your portfolio URL is github.com/yourusername. In my case, guthub.com/SarahAnstey.
