Creating new documents
- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll take a look at creating new documents with Inkscape. And to begin with, you should know that Inkscape can't run without a document open. So, when you start it up, there's always a document to work with. This document is made from the default template, which we'll see how to change in a moment. To make new documents from the default template, you just choose file, new, or click the first button at the top of the commands bar here. Now, to change this specific document, I can go to the file menu and choose document properties. In the page tab of the dialogue, I can pick a different page size, or orientation. I can scroll to see that there are a lot of different presets to choose from. Here, I'll switch to landscape and letter size. And the change takes effect immediately. Note that you can also enter your own custom size. You can choose your units. And I'll make this document nine inches…
