Creating a LUT with Adobe Photoshop

- There are many different ways to create your own custom lookup tables. One of my favorite is Adobe Photoshop 'cause it offers very easy to use tools. In this case, I've opened up a graphic with a color checker. You also can easily export a still image from your NLE and just open that up as well. The key is, make sure that the background is flat. Now, very simply, you can take advantage of adjustment panel effects. For example, with curves, I can option click on the word auto and say, enhance per channel contrasts, snap neutral mid-tones, and we get instant color correction. I could add another curve layer and use the on image tool here, and just click to automatically target different parts of the shot. So we can get just the type of color correction we wanted and refine the exposure there nicely. Let's add a vibrance effect, and bring it up a little.
